The genesis of this book was unexpected. The experience made me think about how vitally important what you say to kids is in the long run. They really do hear you. They remember everything.
While visiting my daughter’s home, one of her sons did something wrong. My daughter sprang into action to correct his behavior. How did she do it? She lectured him. However, it wasn’t just any lecture. It was one of mine. Almost identical to what I had said to her years before. I was dumbfounded!
Sitting there, in that moment, I was shocked and amazed. She really had heard and practically memorized my lectures. For a while, I sat there quietly reflecting on our discussions.
